Face of the Colony Glacier, rests on Lake George, Chugach State Park. The older the ice, the bluer it looks. The black rock is 'moraine' , stones carried away from the nearby mountains on the surface of the ice, and pushed ahead underneath the glacier as well.
Last year, part of an old military plane surfaced on the ice when the snow melted, from a wreck 50 or 60 years ago.
