As summer progresses the amount and configuration of every glacier changes. Usually this gorge has icebergs littering the waterway, but on this day I was able to put my Alaska Photo Safari passengers ashore and then do take offs and landings in front of them. Notice the dark blue ice? The older and more dense the ice the blue-r it becomes. Hundreds of years back this ice was at the top of the valley being formed under decades of snowfall.
